Duntisbourne Parish Council Launches New Small Grants Scheme
Duntisbourne Parish Council is pleased to introduce a new Small Grants Policy and Application Process for local community projects and initiatives.
The scheme has been created to support activities and organisations which provide a clear benefit to residents of the parish, while also ensuring that public funds are allocated in a fair, transparent and accountable manner.
As custodians of public money raised through the parish precept, the Council has a responsibility to ensure that any grants awarded:
- demonstrate community benefit,
- represent good value for money,
- and are distributed through an open and consistent process.
The new policy and application form provide a clear framework for applicants, helping the Council to:
- assess requests consistently,
- understand how projects will benefit the parish,
- identify other sources of funding where appropriate,
- and maintain proper financial governance and audit transparency.
Applications may be submitted by local groups, organisations or individuals for projects which support community wellbeing, environmental improvement, local activities, heritage, accessibility, safety or other initiatives which positively contribute to parish life.
The Council recognises that small amounts of funding can often make a significant difference to volunteer-led and community-based projects, particularly within rural communities.
Applicants will now be asked to provide:
- details of the proposed project,
- the amount requested,
- anticipated project costs,
- and information about any additional funding sources or fundraising efforts.
This process helps safeguard parish funds while ensuring that grant decisions are made openly, fairly and in the best interests of the community.
The Small Grants Policy and Application Form can be found on the Parish Council website or requested from the Clerk.
